Will and Mary Barber are the owners of the H & B Forge Co. which began in 1965 with Mary's father, a dairy farmer at the time, and his partner, Tilton Bowen, a veterinarian. They started the business in a garage! When they couldn't keep up anymore, they hired local Amish blacksmith to make the hawks. There were only three styles back then, the Shawnee, the squaw and the mouse.
Eventually, the Amish church forced them to stop making the hawks as they were opposed to the Vietnam War and found out that there were H & B tomahawks going overseas to our soldiers.
Meanwhile, Tilton left the partnership and Jim's oldest daughter, Mary, married. Her new husband, Will Barber was a pilot, turned roofer and machinist. It turned out that he was a man of MANY talents and in no time he was making the hawks in a forge he set up in the back of his warehouse. Always the perfectionist Will refused to make anything with his name on it that was not only a work of art, but functional and durable as well. Over the years he has added many new styles, including Naval Boarding axes, Medieval and Nordic axes, and various styles of spiked axes and hammer polls.

Will's hand forged throwing knives are among the best made anywhere, and have been featured in Blade magazine for the last ten years. He has also started making an excellent camp stove that comes in 3 sizes as well as various muzzleloading accoutrements and fireplace accessories.

Will and Mary ship to dealers and individuals throughout the United States and Canada and are proud to say that more than a few of their products are in the hands of America's finest, our soldiers. Their hawks have been featured in several films as well. Most recently they are supplying a new design to the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery. Many woodsmen competitions have been won with H & B hawks and knives. They are often mentioned in Blade Forums where the chatter usually involves the words 'workmanship', 'easy to deal with' and 'best prices'.

Hand-Forged Like 100s of Years Ago
The process used to create the H & B Forge hawks is the same process that was used hundreds of years ago. Without giving away any trade secrets, you can know that it involves wrapping softer steel around a hardened bit. They are made to take it all-throwing, chopping, pounding and digging! Our throwing knives also carry a lifetime guarantee. This is something that is very rare in this industry and is not to be taken lightly.

CAMP STOVES
Available in 3 sizes. Easily removable legs for hauling and storage; slide them back in place when you are ready to set up camp. The boxes are baffled and reinforced, formed and welded from extra heavy 1/8 inch steel with an extra large remov-able, airtight gasketed door. The entire stove is painted black with specially designed high-temperature paint.

BELTS & BUCKLES
Our heavy duty belts are available in several widths with hand-forged buckles that are also available in several different sizes and styles. They come in brown and are 50” long, though they can be made longer by request.
