H & B Forge Felling Axe

The primary difference between a tomahawk and an axe is the way the handle is designed. A tomahawk handle is tapered and gradually gets bigger closer to the top of the hawk. That is called a friction fit. An axe handle is attached with steel and wood wedges that are driven into the top of the handle after the head has been attached.

For 50 years H & B Forge has been making tomahawks but in the last 3 years we have "broadened our horizons" and added a couple of axes to our line. We have shown pictures of them on FB and taken them to shows. They are carried by several of our dealers including Self Reliance Outfitters. Dave Canterbury has featured the belt axe in one of his videos as well. They have been in circulation and heavily used by our customers long enough and with complete success that we now feel ready to feature them on our website.

The blade is about 4 inches from top to bottom and about 7 inches across the top. The handle is 25.5" inches long, made of kiln dried hickory. The bottom of the handle is larger and ridged for easier handling. OAL is 28".

Like all of our H & B products this axe carries a lifetime guarantee on the blade.

We have both a blade cover and a full cover sheath with a belt loop available for this axe.
