Shawnee Throwing Tomahawk

H & B Forge's Shawnee Throwing Tomahawk is the most popular throwing hawk in the country. Countless competition matches have been won with this axe, so it's easy to see why we consider it the best throwing tomahawk you can buy. Many serious competitors would not throw any other tomahawk.

The head is 4 inches along the cutting edge and 6 inches long across the top of the blade.

DETAILS:

  • The head weighs about 1 lb.
  • With the 19 inch handle weighing about .5 lb, the total weight of the hawk is about 1.5 lbs.
  • Our large plain or fancy hawk sheath will fit this axe.

Long time owner

Bought this hawk over 30 years ago. Still have original handle, as well as two spares I've never used. Great tool, holds edge well. Hit a knot in a red oak once, heated up with propane torch, few taps with a hammer straightened right out. Look forward to seeing you at rendezvous 2017.

Another purchase

I just ordered two more hawks from this quality craftsman. I have bought seven or eight of these so far and each has been superb. I keep a brace in my kit including the boys hawk that I carry everywhere I go. I have given the others as gifts to family and those of my Soldiers that are deserving of something special. Keep up the great work!

A great tomahawk

A great hand-forged tool that I purchased to take backpacking/camping. Splits tinder with a single whack. The handle took some getting used to, due to the oval being more tapered than I had thought, but no big deal. Got accustomed to it, fast.

The hawk handles just fine, is solid, won't come loose (mine won't, anyway), is very balanced and handy. For most woodland outings, this will replace my fixed blade knife. This and a Swiss Army is about all I need out there.

A truly beautiful tool

I have just ordered another Shawnee Hawk (this makes my third one so far) as well as another Boys Hawk (also my third one). These are the best forged hawks I have run across. The quality is top notch.

I carried the Boys Hawk through a deployment and the axe head performed flawlessly (I had to replace the hickory handle but that is to be expected). All the members of my squad wanted one even the Pashtun that made me a new handle really, really wanted to buy it from me (.....uhhmmm, well...sorry... not in this lifetime!)

If I was dropped in the middle of nowhere and could have only one item it would be this hawk. Great work!

Beautiful!

I have had my hawk for about a year now and I still find it beautiful in many ways, I love the look of it, the feel of it: solid and very well made. It is a pleasure to throw and it is a very practical tool too. I am very please with it. Thank you for craftsmanship.

Good, solid hawk.

I've had one of these for a couple of years now. They're handforged, well-crafted hawks, not hard to make stick and still useful as a camp tool. Fit and finish is not at all outside what one should expect of a handforged tool, and each hawk is a little bit unique because of it. You won't find anything close for the same money.

Worth. The. Wait.

If you are reading this message, I can imagine that you are having a debate in your head on whether or not you should buy this tomahawk. Let me assure you, that you will be glad you did.
This is my 2nd tomahawk to own, with the 1st being a SOG. I enjoyed throwing the SOG just fine, but it's look is too "zombie" for me. I like the historic look of the Shawnee. Not only is it a beauty to the eyes, but its also a dream in the hand, and something special in the air.
And you don't have to take my word for it, there are plenty of reviews online that scream nothing but great things about this company and this tomahawk. You know its good if hickok45 says it is good (search youtube).
With only having been an owner of a Shawnee for less than a week, I can tell you that I am already trying to decide on which H&B hawk will be my next one.

...And it would be a sin for me to neglect to mention how much of a pleasure it is to deal with Mary. She is nice as can be, and responded to all my many emails (I am very thorough) within an hour or two from when I sent them. I was very pleased with the overall experience, and like they say: "good things come to those who wait"

Outstanding!!!

I received my Shawnee Tomahawk today. It took about three weeks from ordering online to delivery, but since these hawks are made to order, the wait was well worth it.

I love the Made in USA sticker on the box. The hawk itself was packed well with packing paper.

The hawk is well made. The finish is rough, as expected for a hand forged steel. It came razor sharp out the box. The handle is beautifully stained and balanced well.

Kudos to H&B for a wonderful product. Keep up the good work. I am sure to pick up more hawks and axes as gifts to dear friends.

AWESOME

I ordered two of these hawks and a backup handle. I am new to this sport....I stick it 95% of the time at 15 ft. after 6 sessions. This is therapeutic. I highly recommend this hawk.
Mary is easy to work with and always pleasant....No small task!
Just ordered a knife as well!!!!

Amazing Hawk!

I ordered this hawk a few months ago to replace my CS Pipe hawk. I hated the awful quality of the CS hawk. I wanted a hand forged " Made In America " hawk that wouldn't break the bank. I had heard about H&B on a few message boards I frequent. After a year of drooling over the Shawnee Hawk I finally ordered one.

Glad I pulled the trigger on a Shawnee hawk. Its much lighter than the CS Pipe hawk. The quality and feel is outstanding! Its worth every penny! I'm not into throwing hawks. I use my Shawnee hawk as a bushcraft hawk to process wood. The hawk head is really pushed in tight. You don't have to worry about it slipping off. The handle is just the right length to carry on my belt. I'm 5'8 and not very tall lol.

It came very sharp out the box. The only complaints I have about the hawk out the box are 2 cosmetic problems. The top edge point of my hawk was like dented or rolled. It looked like someone had thrown and stuck it into a tree , pulled it out and boxed it up to be shipped out. The blade had a light reddish brown bark color on it. Would have been nice if someone had caught the cosmetic blems and fixed it before it got shipped out.

The box was not damaged or opened when I received it. To me that rules out " In transit damage. "

The folks at H&B are awesome and very friendly. at the time the webpage was not updated and I had to place my order over the phone. Nice to see the updated webpage! I will definitely be doing business with H&B again.

I did a " First Impression " video on youtube about the Shawnee hawk. Check it out if you get the chance.
